Quick question: didn't Bertha Mason actually go by Antoinetta (her middle name) most of her life?

Not in the book Jane Eyre. Her middle name is only mentioned in that wedding scene where Briggs comes in. The rest of the time she is called "Bertha Mason" or "Bertha." Maybe there's another version of the story where that detail was added, but not in the original book.
