A girl (woman now, really) that I went to school with named her daughter Eve. She'd be about 6 now and she's very cute. I thought it was a bold yet refreshing choice when she chose it and I still think that. I really love the simplicity and strength of the name. It's definitely not 'sweet' or 'cute' but it has a beauty to it and that's what I look for in a name. Her daughter gets Evie on occasion but she's very much 'Eve' most of the time so I think you can avoid it. Evie is very popular in Australia right now and she's still never become exclusively Evie and I don't think she will- it just doesn't suit her.
So no, definitely not too much to saddle a child with!
Susannah Eve is gorgeous. I don't think it's a cop out- it's not a name many people have in the middle so it doesn't seem filler-ish to me.
