Ronan because I really love Ronan Farrow. (I don't really like either name objectively.)

RowanRowan because it is slightly softer and I love the trees. Rowan does sound a bit like rowing but I have gotten past the association for the most part and decided it isn't negative.Ronan is nice but I have mixed feelings. My first thought is Ronin like the masterless samurai, which is a cool association but maybe too cool like naming a kid Katana. I want to add that I used to watch the anime Ronin Warriors when I was very young and I watch a lot of anime so this is a strong association for me.Also Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy is a villain.Lastly it makes me think of roan horses.Overall Ronan just feels a bit more macho than I like but it's a very cool name. Even though it doesn't make me think of seals I like the meaning of the name. I also like that it isn't very common in the US.

Rowan, same reasons as others- it's a more attractive sound and image.
I wouldn't worry about it being used for girls. I would understand someone who did, but IMO Ronan isn't a better alternative.

Ronan doesn't seem as attractive as Rowan to my ears and eyes. I like the tree aspect of Rowan, and I always think of it as strictly masculine.Funny: I once knew a Rowan who named his son Ronan! Rowan was a teacher, and at one point he'd taught a Ronan boy who was memorably magnificent, so he was happy to commemorate him while also almost using his own name.

RonanRonan because Rowan is becoming increasingly used on females.

RowanRonan sounds really nasal to me.I prefer Rowan largely because of its arboreal association.

Rowan because I just think it flows better

Rowan for me is a girl's name, (row as in rhymes with cow, now). Ronan for a boy.

RonanIt sounds "cooler" but still usable. Rowan is OK but it does reminds me of the word "Rowing" too much. I can see the word and name getting misheard often.

I like Rowan better on a girl, but I really hate Ronan for its nasal sound so....Rowan

Has to be Rowan for me. I like the softer sound, and nature connection. I don't really like the Ron- sound of Ronan.

Hi !!!I like both!!But I would choose Rowan because it seems stronger and it is a nature-name as well.Ronan is beautiful but I quite dislike its Ron- beginning.
Just it.
