[Opinions] Question for Irish posters re: Eibhlín
Well, this can be a question for anyone, but more geared toward people familiar with Irish names. If you saw the name Eibhlín, how would you pronounce it? There are several pronunciations listed on BtN (ie-LEEN, IE-leen, EV-leen, EV-e-leen, AYV-leen), so just wondering what your inclination would be. Thanks. :)

I would say Ave-leen to rhyme with HAVE and MEAN. But my family's accent is quite neutral Cork/Southern, not very strong. I can hear someone with a different Irish accent saying the first syllable similar to Ivy or Evelyn.

I'd pronounce it eye LEEN, but the others can be correct too - depends where the bearer is from and what dialect they use.

My pronounciation would be AVE-LEENHi !!!My pronounciation would be AVE-leen and not AYV-LEEN as I wrote as in the database 'ay' is like the French é so I can't say AYV-leen.I read that its Anglicized form is Eileen so I suppose that my pronounciation is wrong in every case.
