I don't think nicknames are as inevitable as they used to be, I've taught Alexander, Samantha, Frederick, etc. who didn't have nicknames. If you wanted to just call her Adeline I think that would be fine. Some nickname suggestions:
Ada
Lina
Della

I agree with Roxstar. Assuming you like Adeline (I mean, you're using it so you must?), just start out calling her that and nicknames will just naturally develop. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My hope was to call her Adele, (after my g.grandmother), but my husband does not like that so he suggested Adeline (which I also like). However, I really do NOT like the nn Addie and I feel like people will naturally default to that. Unless we can instill an alternative nickname early on, I'm worried that she'll just get lost in the sea of Addies and Abbies. I need real suggestions...

I like Ellie or Lina.

so why not ...Get around the problem entirely and make Adele her middle name? This way you use your grandmother's name but you avoid the Addie problem.

My advice is just to relax and wait for a nickname to suggest itself to you if you don't already have one in mind. Bear in mind also that people's nicknames can change over time and with certain social circles, or be outgrown.
