I think it's tragic.

I dislike it, can't pinpoint exactly why, but...I like Malachi for guys and hate Mallory for girls, so those are probably factors.

I like it - and wonder whether the accent is on the first syllable.

I always hope it is; maLACKee sounds as if something is missing, or at least lacking!

Like Milady Milachi? (smile)I think the term MiLady was used at least as recently as Star Wars movie not too long before Disney bought the rights, so it is not quite archaic. I occasionally use the term Milady with a lady friend (even professionally but not necessarily) in a humorous way, but not without a deeper admiration or with an absolute pleasure to be working with, or hanging out with, a particular lady. In any way that my relations might seem "over-the-top" -- and I can be awfully dramatic, it is not without a "lighter note" of mutual affection - that I too might obviously "laugh at myself" while playing such a part.

Why? Why would you use that name for a girl? I just don't understand it!

I agree with this usage!Hi !!!Malachi ultimately means 'my angel' so it is a perfect example of unisex name in my opinion.

Not my thing really. Malachi wasn't a name I'd consider a good one to change gender.

I think it's fairly ugly as a boy's name, and it would be unthinkable to me to saddle a girl with it.
But obviously her mother doesn't agree and thought it was lovely, and maybe that's a thing, and her class is full of other girls named after minor male Old Testament prophets?*looks at a list of them*
It could have been Haggai or Hosea, so I suppose there's that.

I kind of like it, especially the nickname Mal, which has grown on me since coming across the Descendants character of the same name.
