How do you pronounce Deirdre? Have you known many Deirdres and how did they pronounce it?
I've only known one Deirdre, and she used Dir-druh, alhough she was mostly called Deird.

I've always read it as DEER-druh and really liked it, but pronunciation confusion is the main factor that has cautioned me against using the name personally. I dislike the deer-dree pronunciation quite intensely.

The Deirdre I knew said it DEER-dree.
I've heard DEER-druh most often in passing.
But I prefer to say it DAIR-druh.

I like it! I pronounce it DEER-druh, or sometimes DEE-druh if I'm saying it fast. lol Actually, come to think about it, DEE-druh would be less of a mouthful!
ETA: Actually, I take that back. I just said both pronunciations out loud, and I like DEER-druh better.

Just one. Deer-druh. I've heard the first syllable said slightly differently...I guess on TV...but I've never heard the last syllable pronounced as 'dree'.

I pronounce Deirdre as DIR-dree, and I've never met one.

I've always pronounced it like dear dray, and so did the only one I've ever known. She's South African, which might be significant.

I heard this pronunciation on a classmate in grade school one year, though she ended up moving away. She was Hispanic, which I think influenced the pronunciation.
