[Opinions] Nyah
What do you think of Nyah? Which spelling do you prefer: Nyah or Naia? The first one is a variant of the Swahili Nia, meaning "purpose"; the second means "wave, sea foam" in Basque. I love Maia but sometimes I like the idea of Nyah / Naia too. I would never spell Maia as Myah (I just don't the way it looks) but somehow with Nyah that spelling fits; then again, Naia looks so neat that I can't decide.

I prefer Naia. Nyah just doesn't work for me visually, it looks like a sound someone would make when shocked and being negative. Nia would be my preference though I know it would be mispronounced.I definitely prefer Naia to Maia. I just like the hardness of the N.

Nyah sounds like one syllable in my head, like a car racing by really fast. So for a 2 syllable pronunciation I'd definitely say Naia. Naia is nice enough, Nyah looks off to me, probably in the same way Myah looks off to you.

All I can hear is 'nya' like the sound a cat makes.Naia is a prettier and much more intuitive spelling.

dittoNyah makes me think of a cat too. Nia or Niah would make nice alternatives.

Nia is pronounced NEE-a. Naia is NAH-ya. Nyah looks trendy and made up and like it is supposed to be NY-a. I like Naia and Nia is okay. I dislike Nyah. It just looks horribly misspelled to me. Same with Myah and Kyah, they are pretty much the worst spellings I could come up with for these names. Even Naiya is better.

I like Nia a lot......Nyah, not so much.

The problem with Nia is that people would pronounce it like Mia. I'm going for NY-uh which is why Nyah and Naia work for me =)

I like Naia. Reminds me of "naiad," the nymph of freshwater.

NahIt sounds totally insubstantial to me. Nyah looks pretty hideous and makes me think of "nyet." Naia is much better.

I prefer Naia or Naya. Nyah looks weird to me.
