It was a joyous event when the future Empress Alena married her fiance Baron Gabriel. All of her family came and the kingdom of Northwood and the empire of Cloudhill celebrated. There was a parade held for the newlyweds. It was almost spoiled by a fight by the bride's grandparents King Alphonso and Queen Callista of Northwood. Fortunately they came to their senses, but not before some bad tabloid photos were taken.
Another equally momentous occasion was Alena's brother Prince Armel married the daughter of Viscount Thorndyke, Princess Jehanne. Prince Armel is the 2nd in line to the Northwood throne and will take the throne when both his father and grandfather have passed on. He and Jehanne moved to Snakeforrest in Northwood to get to know the country better. He is working with his grandfather King Alphonso and Great-Great Uncle Ansel to prepare for the throne.
Their younger brother Prince Audric has found a wonderful match in Grand Duchess Nadia. They met in college and he didn't know she was going to be the tsarina of Mistland until she told him their senior year. Now they are engaged. Mistland is full superstition and fairy tale. They like their royals to marry advantageously so Audric is a good match. Audric has a strong emotional bond to Nadia, but she has secret. She found a book in the library that could make people fall in love. She started trying to cast spells by writing poems to make Audric fall in love. It scares Nadia to think he would leave if he knew she was the mastermind behind their relationship.
Dame Myrto died. Northwood had a grand state funeral. Arianwen hosted a reading of excerpts from Revecca Crownwell's books in honor of Myrto's death. Arianwen is officially the person to look after Dame Myrto's legacy as the writer of Revecca Crownwell's legacy. This suits her and she is looking forward to celebrating Revecca Crownwell. She does not want to get married. It still frustrates Callista, who would like to find her husband. The queen, however, is becoming resigned by Arianwen's stubbornness and the fact that she is almost the last member of the family to inherit any titles. Prince Aurelian is still dating his girlfriend, but has no intention of settling down. Nova recently received an honorary title for being a great opera singer and possibly to make her relationship with the prince look better.
Queen Callista and King Alfonso are still married, but went through a temporary separation. Then they got back together after she had a small health problem. King Alfonso confided in his son Apollo that he would leave Callista if he were younger, but at his age he might as well stay with her. Alfonso and Callista have four children and 11 grandchildren together and they are staying together in part for the kids, grandkids, and the kingdom. Everyone adores Prince Ansel, who is getting on in years. Callista insists on celebrating every 4 months he's alive. She is devoted to Ansel and the King finds this heartwarming.
