Julie is really cute. I think it should come back, it doesn't feel quite so dated anymore. You're right in that it fits in with the resurgence of Sophie and Ellie and Claire and stuff. I used to find it boring in that underwhelming, workaday 70's kind of way, but now it feels fresh and romantic yet down to earth. It's a friendly, studious sort of name to me.
Julie is a full name to me, but I like Julianne a lot too. Juliet as well, but only in small doses.
