In the US, it sounds like "haddy". "Hatty" isn't what I would consider an improvement. Same for Pattie. Only in the South, huh? I think two-syllable cutesy names might sound more charming to southerners because they're easy to spell and relatively easy to say+, like Bonnie, Bunny, Honey, Billie, Betty, or names like that. Diminutives.
