[Opinions] Oksana & Mykola
Oksana is name of lady I buy books from, Mykola is her son. Opinions on these? I love both :)

Replies

I like both.
Oksana reminds me of a character from a TV show my parents liked, and I think it’s a really nice name. Mykola is also lovely.
I love Mykola a lot! Very cute.I admire Oksana but I also find it very dated to the 90s, because the strongest association I have is Oksana Baiul, the figure skater who won gold in 1994. I'm sure Oksana isn't so dated in its own culture though.
It was more common 70s-90s but it is still used by new Ukrainians :)
I love Oksana for a girl! Not as Mykola for a boy. Would be a good girl name, with Mikey for a nicname.
How would that work? Mykola is said mih-KO-lah, or meh-KO-lah. Mikey is mie-kee. Myko / Myka maybe? But Mykola is never girl's name...
Sorry I didn't know how to pronounce it
Oksana is a beautiful name for a girl. Mykola is nice too. I probably wouldn’t use it here in the USA because of pronunciation issues.
I thought Mykola was easy for English speakers
I prefer Oxana spelling but I find it a very beautiful name. I think of Oxana Fedorova, the dethroned Miss Universe. She is very problematic as a person but when she was in her prime she was very beautiful. Slavic women are unmatched beauties. So when I hear Oksana / Oxana I think of a very captivating and unique looking woman with pretty eyes. It also sounds like Roxana, the wife of Alexander the Great.Mykola sounds like a type of bacteria. I don’t have any other associations of this.
I will preface this by saying that I am a Slavic woman born in a majority Slavic country. Your statement about Slavic women being unmatched beauties is not the compliment you think it is. I seriously cringed. It is an insult to all other women who happen to not be Slavic. It others Slavic women the same way that some men's statements about Asian women(as an example) other them. In an opinion statement about a name you seem to want to remind women that there is nothing more important than appealing to the male gaze. Frankly I'm surprised you didn't say Slavic women would be more attractive if they smiled more. Ugh.
I’m a woman, as I have made clear from my other posts. And was showing love to other women. When you women don’t show love to other women, then patriarchy wins. Notice I NEVER made a superlative statement, ie Slavic women are the most beautiful or more beautiful than x. I said they are unmatched meaning UNIQUE as I wrote in my comment. I have no further statements to you but thanks for making stupid assumptions and tearing down Slavic women in the process.
