I was fully convinced for a very long time that Belinda wasn't a real name. It seemed to be a name that I encountered in, like, school readers, or in word problems in math textbooks. I still associate it with not being a name actual humans give their child - it strikes me as, I don't know, false?
I don't love any of the -linda family of names: Linda, Melinda, Belinda, etc. They just don't strike my fancy.

I agree! Belinda really does sound made-up even though it's not and has been around for generations. Definitely a math word problem type of name.
Belinda has 2,000 cookies to make for a bake sale on Saturday. She has only made 300. How many more cookies does she still need to make?
