Not a fan. I’m not wild on place names that aren’t well established as names like Virginia or Charlotte plus it has somewhat colonialist/imperialist implications, isn’t it the name of one of Lord Mountbatten’s daughters?

I live in an area with a large East Indian population and have met Indian women named India. My Avon lady is Indian and is named India. None of my Indian friends are bothered by anyone else using the name. They are more offended by white people being offended on their behalf.

I also thought so, Fiammetta, but Wikipedia doesn't. Strange! But I do agree with your opinion: could hardly be more colonial.
