[Opinions] Omar
How do you feel about the name Omar? Its one of my favorites. I'm reminded of the actor Omar Sharif, which is a positive association. What middle names would you use with Omar? Thanks

Not likely to be used in South Africa: sounds just like the Afrikaans word Ouma, which means Granny.
I was just thinking of the name today. Definitely middle eastern, but it is also used on a log in Latin America. It wouldn't work on a white American, but I like the name.
I think it would work on a white American. It's a name i would consider for my son.
Well, meant non Muslim. (Please say I'm not causing more controversy)
Yes, you can absolutely name a white person Omar. While the name has Arabic and Hebrew origins, it is used across various cultures and regions globally. It has gained popularity in Europe and the Americas, as well as Africa and the Middle East. There are instances of white individuals with the name Omar, as seen in the mention of actor Omar Sharif. Some discussions suggest it may be viewed as unusual or potentially lead to assumptions about cultural background, but it's not inherently racist to choose a name you like, regardless of its origin.
