[Opinions] Amy
WDYT of this common name for a girl? Do you prefer it for a fn or mn, and if mn what would you suggest for a fn? I've been thinking about this name as I've been reading a biography of the great missionary Amy Carmichael and would consider using it in honor of her. Thanks for your opinions

We are thinking Amy for first name too. We are having an awful time with a middle name. The only thing my husband likes so far is Amy Nicole.

It is very common where I live. I have an aunt Amie and a cousin Amy, I went to school with three Amy's and 1 Aimee.
The name itself is okay, and could work as either first or middle name.
My favorite spelling is Amie.

It's not bad but nms, I wouldn't use it but if I did it would be as a middle name. I think Amy is one of those names that would work well as a mn for just about any fn.

I love the name Amy. There've been lots of great bearers of the name...like yours truly. ;) My middle name is Rae, and I always liked it. It makes a great first name and a great middle name (so long as you don't spell it Aimee--ick!).Any longer name, preferably not ending in an A sound, would work fine as a first name to Amy. The first thing that came to my mind was Josephine Amy, which of course is too themey, but is a good example of the sort of name I think you'd want to use. Array

Well, I'm biased because it's my name but I've always really liked it because it's sweet, feminine and I like that it has three letters! :) It's nice that it is not as common anymore.

I love it! It would work in either place (fn or mn) to me.

I dont mind it, it is short and sweet and you can tell it is a female name. If you want to honour someone with it then I say do it, as long as it has meaning to you then I dont see anything wrong with it.
