Yes, the fact that it sounds like something a little ,id might call his grandfathers is a definite factor as to why I dislike the name Poppy. (I also don't like the names Nan and Nana for almost the same reason.)
But to me Poppy just sounds babyish. It might be cute on a little girl, but it really doesn't suit a grown woman, or evena teenager.
