[Facts] Shaelyn?? :))
Hi everyone! I just came across this site trying to pick a name for my baby. Does anyone know the meaning or origin of Shaelyn (any spelling)? I haven't found anything yet. The closest I could find is SHAY...and we are hoping for a girl this time. (I am the lone female in a house with a 2 and 3 yr old boy, my husband, and 2 male dogs....I need support here!!)

Hi there my name is Shaelyn, and I was told by some one else who named their child Shaelyn as well that it was Celtic and meant wood fairy or nymph. I love my name it isnt very often you hear of some one with the same name. Sorry i have no other information, my parents heard the name and loved it.

I believe "Shaelyn" is one of those recently invented names, possibly created from combining the elements of two different names, such as "Shay " and Lynn " (click on both blue names to find their meanings on this website).I, personally, would say that the name "Shaelyn" means "beautiful pool of water" or "beautiful waterfall", from "Shay " (taken from the Yiddish name of "Shaynah ", meaning "beautiful"), and also from "Lynn " (which means "lake" according to this website, but which also means "waterfall" in Gaelic, according to other reference sources).Of course, the name can mean other things, depending on which languages you view the combined elements of the name as having come from.-- Nanaea
