[Opinions] Petra and Calder
I am reading a book to my class and the two main characters at twelve-year-olds named Petra and Calder. what do you think of these names? I have never been fond of Petra, but Calder is new to me and I think I like it.

I would use Petra as a way to honor my heritage and because Petra, Jordan was one of the most incredible places I've ever seen. I'm not sure, though, if I would like it if I heard it as a first name because I don't really like how it sounds. Calder isn't bad, but it is not something I would ever use.

Calder is NMSAA, but I adore Petra! It's the name of my cousin, who is a lovely person, and I associate it to the desert city I'd love to visit one day.

LOVE that book, by the way! :)Petra - It's interesting. I'm kind of on the fence for using it as a mn.Calder - Totally cool as a mn.

I probably wouldn't use Petra...Having owned enough of their albums as a teenager...but I love Calder! (The town I live in has one of Alexander Calder's sculptures and it's very much a symbol of the town.)

Like Petra...a lotCalder...sounds like a name that should be in Harry Potter, or a name from "Cauldron"

Petra reminds me of a computer game (I think I'm associating it with Tetris).Calder is the name of the river flowing through where I live so to me it sounds a bit strange on a child. I'd prefer it on a boy.

I know a five y/o (Pet-tra) and a 21 y/o (Pait-tra) I much prefer the 2nd version. I've never been fond of Petra either.
