What do you think of Cosette, the name of the main character in Les Miserables?

I love Cosette. It will be my next kitten's name. ;-)

It's nice, but I far prefer Colette (being that Colette is my favorite girls' name).

I thought she was a bit whiny and much preferred Eponine. Why do you ask?

"the" main character? Are you kidding? She is emblematic of the novel and musical, but she is hardly the "main" character. Both the show and the novel rely so heavily on the ensemble that a case could be made for any number of people to be called "main" characters, but it is generally accepted that Jean Valjean gets the title of protagonist. Sorry, I've loved Les Mis forever, and I don't want to see it misrepresented.Anyway, I don't see why the name wouldn't be usable. It's just like any French name, but of course, you'd have to be prepared for people to ask, "Oh, like the musical/book?" I don't think that's a big deal at all. I personally don't like the sound (but I'm not a fan of Colette, etc, either). Do you have an MN or FN ideas?

I like Cosette especially with the nickname Cosy. However I think it may be a bit too much for a real person and more useable for a pet.Eleanor x

I really like this name, the only thing is it reminds me of the word closet.I still use it though, but probably as a mn.

I think it's cute, but also heavily associated with Les Miserables. It sounds a little too sweet for an adult - I'd be happy to name my cat Cosette, but not my daughter.

It's okay, I would probably only use it as a mn.

I don't think I honestly like it. I'm not sure I'm even pronouncing it properly (koss-ETT), but overall it's just nms.
