[Facts] last names
Hi, I was looking on the web for last names when I came to this, 2 friends of mine are doing a class project and they can't seem to find their last names anywhere (and I can't seem to find them either)Does anyone know what the names "Van De Velde" (belgian) and "Triau" (french) mean?Your help will be greatly appriciated

Triaud is a French surname, it's a variant Trillaud, which means 'treille', a trellis or treillage typically used for growing grapes, with a diminutive suffix -aud. So I guess this name was given to someone who had such a structure near his house.

Not knowing any Dutch, I would still say: "Van de Velde" means "from the field".Andy ;—)
