Re: Oh, and I realise this sounds snippy (m)
I was going to post a very unpleasant reply, and I'm still in half a mind to - I don't actually appreciate having my head bitten off for making a suggestion, given that we're both obviously quite interested in the topic and therefore have an opinion on how it should be done. However, I accept your apology.I may or may not post my results - depends how much time I have once this thread slips off the board where it can't get any more replies. In case you're interested, I'm collating very simply: I copy the names into a word document, then when I have all of them I'll sort alphabetically. That's my base data. Then, in a new file, I'll delete the repeated names and leave a number tabbed next to each name. After that, I'll sort by the number, giving me the rankings.

Something else I thought of...It wasn't intended to be me biting your head off- you are right, you were just offereing an opinion. It's just hard to convey tone over the internet, and I didn't do a very good job of it last night. Sorry once again.Something else I thought of- the SSA list is based only on American data, whereas ours comes from various places across the globe. So that affects it too, I guess- I hadn't thoguht of that. I'll make note of both these issues when I post the results so people can take them into account.Interesting also to hear how your doing it. My method is pen and paper- I write down the names in a big long list, but each name is written down only once. If it appears again, I go back an dput a mark next to it. If it's a different spelling, I also record that. I'd already planned to put the different spellings in my results eg if Caitlin makes the top name:1) Caitlin (7 votes) Caitlin (3), Kaitlyn (2) Katelynn (1), Katilin (1)Or something along those lines. Anyway, thanks for your opinions and suggestions. I better get back to these names.

I'll be excited to see both of your results if you both have time to do them. Good luck. :)
