Leila
I met an Iranian girl with this name last year and she pronounced it Layla.
Is it ever pronounced Lyla? Do Jewish girls ever have Leila and if so how do they pronounce it?
The reason I ask is because I believe it is related to Hebrew Lilah meaning "night" and pronounced lyla.

I have only ever seen Leila pronounced as Layla. I have seen Lyla used which is obviously pronounced as it looks. Personally, I would pronounce Lilah as Leela, but not sure if that is correct as I've never met anyone with that name.

It would be said Lyla, but all the Leila's and Layla's I have ever met say LAY-la. Lilah or Lila would be lie-lah. I think it would be easier to spell it that way if that is the pronounciation you are after.I personally don't know any Jewish Leila's, but that doesn't mean they cannot use it.
