Ptolemy and Saul
In general, do you think people would have a hard time pronouncing Ptolemy, do you think it would get misspelled often?
it isn't really something I'm overly concerned with, because I guess it happens to everyone sooner or later. but there are quite a few names I see on BtN that I think would get mispronounced often by the general population.and what do you think of Saul? I almost never hear it, so when I do hear it on a person, it grows on me. can you picture it on a little boy?

Ptolemy is ptryingPeople in general get thrown by that t. It's a shame. It is slightly ambitious but it has a lovely sound and isn't any different from other three syllabled boys' names, really. Saul has lots of dignity but I find it almost too austere.

I have no doubt Ptolemy would be misspelled and mispronounced all the time. Like you I wouldn't worry about it too much.I can't get into Saul because I associate with King Saul, who was a real arse in the Bible. Normally I don't worry too much about biblical namesakes but this one bothers me.

I have no idea about Ptolemy- I mean, I know I wouldn't, but then I'm me and not everybody else. But one time correcting them, and I figure that the name is distinctive enough that people would remember.I can picture Saul on a little boy very easily. It's sweet.

No, I don't think Ptolemy would be misspelled any more or less than any other name. I know how to say it, can't speak for everyone but I would think the majority of HS graduates would at least be familiar with Ptolemy, sound wise.
I love Saul and think it would be awesome on a little boy! I can picture a small Saul pretty easily.

i wouldn't be that worried about the spelling issue. most people know Ptolemy. and having your name misspelled happens even when your name is achingly simple (as i know from personal experience ;P)
i really like Saul! itd be so cute on a little boy!

I think Ptolemy would get misspelled as often as any other name to be honest. That is, not any more or less. I'm sure most people have heard the name Ptolemy before, and it does lend itself to the spelling, pretty much.Saul ...I don't know if I can see that on a little boy, but it doesn't matter much. They're only little for a little while. I can easily see it on a teenager and older.
