Ylva
Another's post on the name Wolfram led me to this name (which means "she-wolf"). It's a Scandinavian name, and I have utterly fallen head over heels for it. It seems silvery and mysterious and awesomely obscure.I was wondering what thoughts are on this name - especially from the Scandinavian members of the board! In the comments it says that people who are unfamiliar with the Swedish y-sound should pronounce it as "ILL-va". Is this acceptable?

Excellent description of the name. I really like it too. I prn it ILL-va as well, and probably wouldn't like any other prn.

I think ILL-va is an acceptable pronunciation. It's not 100% right but it's close enough.

I like it. Great meaning and sound (I think- I'm not quite sure how to pronounce it either.)

I like that very much! Very pretty, though at first I was saying EEL-va. What is the correct way to say it?

I'm not sure either! I'm hoping a Scandinavian member can clear up the mystery. It's it a lovely name?! I just love new discoveries.
