Charlotte or Charlene? (more)
I love Lottie and Charlie, but Charlotte bores me a little. It's really really common here, and I just hear it way too much. Charlene on the other hand has a nice retro feel and I could still use Charlie.Which one would you choose? Does Charlene sound trashy to you? (some people have told me so).

I haven't read all the responses but I suppose I'll go against the grain by suggesting Charlene. It sounds more interesting and quirky than Charlotte. I don't truly dislike Charlotte but I find it a bit prissy and don't see why so many people seem to love it.

Definitely CharlotteWhere I live, Charlene is one of the most dated, tacky names I can think of. Sorry if that sounds harsh, I just really dislike this name :P Charlotte is just so classically gorgeous, a million times better than Charlene.

CharlotteCharlene does sound trashy or 'bogan' to me. It is pretty much a joke name to plenty of Australians, said in a nasally voice. Charlene was the name of Kylie Minogue's character on Neighbours.

Charlotte, all the way.

I prefer Charlotte but my favourite Char name is Charlize.

I wouldn't exactly use the word 'trashy' to describe Charlene, however, I think it definitely has less of a pedigree and is less sophisticated than Charlotte. It's also dated. I much, MUCH prefer Charlotte. But since that doesn't float your boat, wdyt of Charlotta or Carlotta? You could still call her Charlie or Lottie.

Charlotte, definitely. Charlene is very dated/trashy where I live.

Charlotte. It's more classic. Charlene seems very dated and American. It does sound a bit trashy.

Charlene does sound very trashy to me. I also love Lottie, could you not have Charlotte so she has a name to fall back on but just call her Lottie all the time

Charlene actually does not sound as trashy to me as it used to. But many people think it is trashy, so I might stay away. I don't know one Charlotte, however, and it's a nice name. I see how you think Charlene has a retro feel, and I kind of think so too, but it's dated. I would choose Charlotte.

I don't like Charlene, personally. It's not that it's trashy, but it is very dated (but not in a way that I really like), in my opinion.
What about Carlotta? Or Liselotte (you won't get Charlie out of that, but you can definitely get Lottie)?Between Charlotte and Charlene, I'd choose Charlotte, hands down. I do prefer both Carlotta and Liselotte to Charlotte, though.
