Lila
The name Lila (pronounced as LEE-lah) has been growing on me lately. It's short and sweet but not too common. (I've yet to see it in real life). However, do any of you think it would be easy to mispronounce as LIE-lah or some other variant. I really don't like the LIE-lah pronounciation, so that's why I ask. Upon first seeing Lila, which pronounciation first comes to mind?

I automatically pronounce Lila LIE-la, which is how I typically hear it pronounced. How about Leila? It seems like people would be more inclined to pronounce it LEE-la because it's similar to Sheila.

I pronounce Lila as LIE-lah. However if I saw Leila written, it'd pronounce it as LEE-lah. I prefer LIE-lah but I think both pronunciations are lovely. And I think I've only met one Lilah so it's not real common. =)

I've only heard it pronounced LIE-lah; I've never heard the other version. Personally, I think LIE-lah is prettier.

LIE-la is the only pronunciation that comes to mind for me. I know 2 Lilas, one quite elderly and the other under two, and they're both LIE-la. Plus, I think of old Lila (LIE-la) Quartermain from General Hospital. I really don't like LEE-la, and that's one reason why this name never climbs very high on my own lists.

LIE-lah definitely comes to mind first for me. I'm not sure anyone would pronounce that right at first..
Oooorrrr now that I look at other posts, I guess I'm wrong. But really, I don't see how they could see it that way.

I don't think of LIE-lah. I only think LIE-lah when I see Lilah, or Lyla. Lila just looks like LEE-lah to me.
