As you can see, black South African parents go for inspiring names, whether they use English or an African language. The exception is Macbeth: his mother was a high school English teacher and named him after her favourite play. Surprise ... perhaps they thought he'd be a girl, or it took a while for the pregnancy to be diagnosed. Or they were just really glad to see him!Siphiwe ( isiZulu) and Reneilwe (Sesotho) literally mean “we have been given a gift” and Kagisho is a Sesotho name for peaceful co-existence, conciliation. I checked that with my friend, who's a translator and former lecturer!
