It's cute, but very boring since it is soooo popular.

Emily used to be my favorite name. I loved the association with Emily Brontë, Emily Dickinson, Emily Carr and Emily Murphy. I adored the combo Emily Margaret. However, I've grown out of it. Emily is sweet, but I find her too sweet now and lacking a lot of spunk. It's still a good name, though: it's classic and feminine and even elegant. If you love it, don't be afraid to use it because it doesnt match the taste of some people on the Internet. It has a good foundation that most BtNers admire in a name.

I think it's quite pretty, especially as a middle name. Gloria Emily was one of my top combos for a long time. (Both names are honoring.)As a first name, its popularity doesn't bother me. The only time popularity turns me off a name is when it's a trendy name that will become dated if it falls out of fashion. But common classics are fine by me. I quite like a lot of them. I don't think it's all that important that a name be exciting, unusual, or distinctive. Actually, in this day and age, I think there's a lot to be said for being difficult to Google. ;)

It's classic and pretty, but extremely popular and common. A sturdy name that will age well though.

Emily didn't do a whole lot for me before it took off in popularity. And this is coming from someone who has a niece with the name. It's okay -- it just needs a long, long rest.

I've always liked the name Emily, but I wouldn't use it these days due to popularity.

I really, really, really wish it wasn't so popular. I like being an Em and an Emmy but Emily sounds a bit... doormatish to me. Still, it's what most people call me.So, as a name, yeah I like it. As my own, I've got mixed feelings. I'm a bit lukewarm on Emily.

I love Emily despite its popularity. It's such a beautiful name. I'd probably never use it due to it being so popular though.

It's become so common, I can't even try to like it. I don't hate the name, but it's definitely not a name I'd consider using ever.

yawnIt's almost on the par with Sarah in terms of dullness and overuse, without the latter's Hebrew/biblical charm.

Nice but too common.

I've always found it beautiful and classic.

I've always liked it. It's a comfortable classic name, it's friendly and unassuming, and if it wasn't for a family member who I'd rather not name a child after, it would be on my list of potential daughter-names.

AgreeI don't know if it's because I've known so many (and never really liked any of them) that made me not like the name, but I don't think it's pretty in anyway.

Pretty, classic, versatile, and sweet, one of those names that is popular for a reason.Overused as a first name perhaps, but I think it makes a lovely, unexpected middle name - Margaret Emily, Constance Emiliy, Georgiana Emily, Florence Emily...
