Nicknames for Geraldine
Geraldine has really grown on me lately, but do you think it would automatically be shortened? I'd like to find a nickname for it other than Geri, which I don't particularly care for. WDYT of Gera? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

Thanks!Genie is adorable as a nickname for Geraldine. I also really like Rallie / Rally. Dina, Aldie, Geddie, and Ginny are nice too.

I worked with a girl named Geralyn who went by Gera. I don't really care for it, but it completely works.Rally (prn RAWL-lee, just like the ral syllable in the name)
Dine (Dean) / Dina

Dina like Deena
Gera might work

GiGi and Deenie are good ones I think!

I've got nothing the others haven't already suggested. But I think Deenie or Gi would be cute.

I've always liked Deenie for a nn. It has a Southern charm to it, for me. But until now the only formal name for it that I could think of was Gardenia, which I don't really like. Geraldine, nn Deenie, works much better for me. Perhaps you will like it too. Thanks for putting me on to Geraldine. I don't know why I overlook her so much. :-)

Gera could work well. Would Dini be too much of a stretch?

Dene/Dina.
Geddie.

GezaI have a friend called Geraldine she is never called anything but Geraldine but she writes it herself Ger sometimes for convenience - Skype/text messages. I know another who goes by Ger all the time. I prefer Dina or Gerrie to Gera.

I love Geraldine, but there really aren't any nns for it that I love, either. I don't like Geri at all, and don't really like the sound of Gera, either. Gigi and Dina are the only others I can think of. They're both okay, but I don't love either. I read the other responses and really like the idea of Genie! I could get into that for sure.

I prefer Dina or Geri which feel much more natural than Gera.

How about Genie (with a long E) or Gennie/Genny (with a short E)?

I like Gera ok. I share your distaste for Geri.Mayhap Dina (deena) from the "dine" of the ending? Gi or Gigi?
