Carlotta
What does everyone think of the name Carlotta? I think I'd much prefer something more like Carla or Carlene. WDYT?

It's my dearest friend's name!So I like it for that. Interestingly enough, she's not of Spanish or Mexican heritage, which might come to mind. She's British Isles/French Canadian. Her mother "got the name out of a book".(a novel, that's to say, not a name book.)

Interesting!Carlotta is Italian, though, but Carlota with one T is Spanish.

Gosh no, Carlotta is way more awesome than Carla or Carlene. Carla is pretty ordinary and a bit boring. I guess I just grew up with quite a few in the 80s. Carlene sounds like a funkified Darlene, and not really in a good way. Carlotta is really pretty! The class of Charlotte without ryhimg with harlot. Some good nickname options: Carlie, Lottie. Yeah, I like Carlotta. Thanks for bringing her up!

I think Carlotta is lovely, lively, and underused. Carlene is WAY dated and pretty downmarket, IMO, and Carla is only slightly better. I used to adore the name Carla, but I'm pretty well over it.

I was just thinking about this name, because I ran across it the other day. It's definitely a fun name. I've never met a Carlotta though. It seems to have had its day in the US several generations ago.
Practically speaking I like Carla and Carly much better, but Carlotta would be fun to use in a story.

Reminds me of the prima donna in Phantom of the Opera, so all I can see is some dressed up Opera singer when I see Carlotta. It is somewhat pretty in it's own way, if I had to pick one I'd probably pick it over Carla and Carlene though Carla is nice too.
