Dixie ..and.. Laurence
WDYT of these?is Dixie totally unusable?
Laurence sort of just crept up on me today. I hate the idea of NN Larry but love the idea of Ren :) Could I pull that off? Is Laurence too stuffy sounding?
combo suggestions welcome

I hate Dixie. It's the epitome of white trash.Laurence/Lawrence is a nice name for a boy.

Aww I was going to make a Lawrence/Laurence topicAs for Dixie, I see it as completely unusable. In the north, the word dixie doesn't have the greatest connotations and it just wouldn't be viewed that highly.I like Laurence, originally I liked Lawrence more because it's my dad's middle name and Laurence seemed more stuffy but it's grown on me. I like Laurie as a nn for a guy but I can see how that can be kind of confusing in this day and age. I would use either as a middle name. Also I know a Laurence that simply goes by Laurence so there's no need for a nickname if you don't want one. Either way, I think Ren works and isn't a stretch at all.

Dixie is cute in an old-fashioned, country-girl sunbonnet way, but I don't really like it. It sounds like a failed honky-tonk singer with a bad dye job.Ren as a nn for Laurence just seems too contrived and "quirky" to me. I don't like laurence at all, it looks stuck-up and pompous. I'm not that crazy about Lawrence either but I think that spelling is better.I kinda like the name Larry. My stepfather is named Larry and hates it when companies sending mail to him assume his real name is Lawrence. It happens all the time. He went to school with four or five other Larrys and none of them was Lawrence.

I personally wouldn't use Dixie. Along similar lines, I love Daisy, but I'm not sure if it's usable either. I've kind of liked Laurence for a while too, but I'm not sure if I'd ever use it. Ren is a cute nickname, I think you could totally pull it off.
