Viola
What do you think of Viola? I can't decide if I like it or not.

I love Viola pronounced Russian way, Vee-OH-la (or even Vih-OH-la), I don't know how to explain it better, but 'ee' must be a little bit shorter than 'oh'. All the other ways to pronounce it seem unattractive to me. But, anyway, this name is underrated and underused.

I feel the same. There's something appealing about it but I think it's one of those names that looks prettier than it sounds - I pronounce it VIE-ə-la, which could quite easily sound like 'viler' in the UK.

I think that's exactly it! I love the way it looks and the associations it has, but it doesn't sound that great. But it sounds distinctive and strong, so I don't know. Vie-ə-la is a lot like 'viler' to me - I don't really have a favoured pronunciation, though, so it doesn't bother me so much.

I dislike it intensely. It's the "o" sound. Yuck. Plus its sound makes me think of diarrhea. Violet is much nicer, though I don't love that either.

I love it! It's poised and poetic.

I like it. It has a vintage feel, and could be a musical or a nature name.

I think of the instrument. I prefer Violet, but then that reminds me of the word violent (not great).

Love it! It does sound a little more grand than Violet but I still love it

I'm in the same boat! I LOVE Violet (my daughter's mn), but really can't make up my mind on this one. I THINK I like it.My parents nearly named me this! I think I would have suited it better than the name they gave me, actually... xx

I don't mind it at all, but personally I prefer Violet.
