That's a tricky one. I could accept it more easily if there were another reason to like the namesake rather than just his attractiveness; e.g. he's great at his job, he volunteers at donkey sanctuaries etc.
I too have only ever met one Gabriel, he was originally from Brazil but moved to England as a child, I don't find it popular or trendy in the slightest!
