Mirielle
Hi everyone-I named my daughter Mirielle, I think it's a beautiful name pronounced meer-e-Elle, just like it looks. However, people seem to be so intimidated on trying to even say her name. I still love it, but I would like opinions on what you name lovers think. We do call her Elle for short at times. Thanks! Rose

I adore Marielle and could see myself using that. With Mirielle, although interesting, I can only think of Marielle, Mireille and Muriel. I'm curious, do people ever confuse your dd's name for Marielle, Mireille or Muriel? Bottom line: As long as you love it, that's all that matters.

I like it! Very pretty sound. I think I would have spelled it Miriel (to avoid confusing it with Mireille) but it's a very beautiful name nonetheless!

I love it, but then it's familiar to me, reasonably common where I live.
Don't be discouraged, people will come to it in time. It's not that hard or different!

I think Mirielle is very pretty. I had no trouble pronouncing it. I can see how people might get a little confused, with how it's spelled, but it's not all that different.

Thanks-that makes me feel better!

I had a brief flirtation with this name after I watched The Killing (the American version). The actress who plays Sarah, one of the main characters, is named Mireille. I do think it's pretty and I'm glad it's getting some use. ETA: I misread this as Mireille!! Hmm... well I've never heard of Mirielle. Where did you get it?

My favorite name is Marielle, but my husbands family is Jewish and through a baby name book we found Mirielle to be a name from Miriam, which is hebrew! They liked that, so Mirielle it was!

This is my all-time favorite name.
I am so excited to see that someone used it. We ended up naming our daughter Clarisse because I was nervous about people's opinions, but I wouldn't do it again. If we have another, her name will be Mirielle. I think it is easy to pronounce once you tell people the first time. My husband is not a native English-speaker and he got it right away when I first suggested the name. Am wondering if you have a nickname?
We debated Miri, Millie, Mel and Rielle. I like Miri the best. (top comment I have heard online, is that it is too close to Mireille, but the average person has never heard of that name in my area).

just saw you listed Elle as the nickname.

Yes! We call her Elle, but I have a couple of friends that call her Miri! I'm so glad I'm not the only one on love with that name!!

It's got an attractive sound, but when I first saw it I thought it was a typo of the French name Mireille. Mirielle would definitely be easier to pronounce than Mireille. I really doubt that people are actually intimidated by Mirielle's name, it isn't that complicated, just slightly unusual.

I have never heard of either name before, and I had more trouble with Mireille. I had to go look it up.

I really like it! I would know how to pronounce it without being told, but people are probably just worried they'll butcher it somehow and need to be told. I've felt the same way about my daughter Amalia's name. I think it's beautiful (obviously) and easy to spell/pronounce. But it trips people up all the time. No biggie though. I tell them how to pronounce and not worry about it.

Thanks!! Lovely, name by the way!

It is certainly pretty, but looks at first glance like Mireille, which of course is pronounced quite differently. I live all the Mir- girls' names, except the overdone Mirabelle.

She's been called mirabelle a few times!!

It sounds very pretty ^_^ Like bells chiming.Maybe feel intimidated cos they've never seen it before?? I would've guessed the pronunciation like "mirry-el" and I can't tell if that's right but I think it's a bit different from how you're saying it.
But I bet once I'd heard it I'd be okay!! It doesn't look crazy difficult to me. It's just a bit different.
