Re: Abner
I have no idea about cartoons or television shows, so it couldn't have any bearing on my admiration. I also have respect for pigs, and do not eat pork (if I can help it) due to the cruel way they are farmed. I know of one pig named Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, another name I admire.

It's actually from Hey Arnold, which I didn't remember until I looked up. I just can't get past the pig assiocation. I don't really eat pork either but it just sounds like an old guy who wears mud stained overralls living out in the sticks to me. Same thing with Wilbur.

Honestly, the image of an old man in overalls is far more appealing and respectable to me than a young boy who exists in a cluttered cloud of garish plastic toys and can't have conversations due to his dependency on his mobile phone for all life interaction. I do not see how the younger person image is "better". Old people have been far more kind to me my entire life, so it is hardly any wonder names like Abner give me a positive feeling.

Huh, a very interesting point.

I never said old was bad. I like a lot of 'older' sounding names as well. It's just the mental image of Abner that does not appeal to me. No need to get so defensive. It's called opinions for a reason.
