Thanks for your reply, glad to hear some one likes his name. Alphonse is called Al and Alphie at times but mostly by his full name. I suspect Alphie will be dropped as he gets older.

Raphael get called Raphie since he's only two. As with Alphie he'll most likely out grow it. So, right now we have Alphie and Raphie, or Raph and Al.
