Raphael is a cool name. I know a kid named Rafael. It's a little bit difficult to get people to say it right, in my experience - they like to say ra-fee-el instead of ra-fa-el.
Alphonse sounds pompous and effete to me... and invites the nickname Alfie, which I think sounds droll, like a good name for a hamster. It's not a "bad" name though.
I guess they're not so strange as siblings.
