Montserrat
This girls' name has been growing on me for a while. What do you think of it?

Monster rat!Sorry, I couldn't resist the pull of the R.O.U.S. :-)But really, that's what the original spelling looks like upon first read (and some continued readings). I understand the appeal of the sound, though, which is why I don't mind the spelling Monserrat, dropping that first 't'.

...ok, now I love Montserrat

It's a name that's been growing on me too; strong, unusual, and beautiful. But if I were to ever use it, it'd be relegated as an interesting middle name at the most. Kids would probably pick up on the "monster rat" thing pretty quickly otherwise.

I love it! There's a Mexican student at the boarding school where I teach, and her name is Montserrat, though she goes by Montse.

It's a bit much for me, but it does have a namesake in Montserrat Caballe, if you're an opera fan. :)

Its too close to "monastat" which is a fertility product (pregnancy sticks. The thing woman pee on to see whether or not they're prego)It also sounds like a name of a mountain range, a religion, a religious place where people pray such as monastaries or a name of a hurricane\storm or a monsterIt just doesn't sound like a human name at all
