Re: Today's name of the day: Esther
How I view Esther varies depending on the time frame that I'm thinking of the name in. By itself, Esther is a lovely old fashioned name. It has a queenly aura perhaps because of the affiliation with Queen Esther, and I love the Persian meaning "star." However, when I think of Esther in connection with the period of the Protestant Reformation and early America, I tend to visualize a Puritan girl wearing a black dress and white apron with buckle shoes.
