Auggie (August)
Can Auggie short for August get teased and sound like ugly? I do not like Gus. Also, does this sound like a cool name to you? Our older son is Kaden (Kade)

Auggie reminds me of the exclamation "Ouchie!", a childish way of saying "Ouch!" Depending on your pronunciation of the name, other children might eventually make that connection, in which case they might possibly make fun of him for a little while.https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ouchie

I love August but I have trouble shortening it as I don't like Gus either. Some other nns could be Augs or Gusto. I do hope to use August one day and I'll probably call him "August" nearly all of the time, maybe "Augs" occassionally. Auggie is cute though.

I think it works fine for a nn, but I would spell it Augie.

I don't think it sounds too close to "ugly," but I do think it sounds too much like a dog's name. I've known so many people with dogs named Auggie. But no humans. It rhymes with doggy, doesn't help. I love Gus, too bad you don't, or Aggie! Yes, Aggie, I love. Not sure how well that would go over in real life though. Probably just as well as Auggie.

I can't think of a reason for Auggie to be teased, but I think it's terribly unattractive. I love August, it's been my #1 for years - just call him that.
