Roy
WDYT of the name Roy? I really like this name due to Roy being the name of one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters, but I've heard people online say that Roy is a redneck name. What's your opinion on the name? Do you think it sounds like a redneck name?

Roy RogersReminds me of Roy Rogers the fast food chain.I wouldn't say redneck but southern or western feel.

Roy is alright. I tend to enjoy other names with the "roy" component more than Roy on it's own. I do think the name might be more common in the South, but I don't find it particularly redneck. Associations that come to mind for me include Roy Clark (country/bluegrass musician), Roy Disney, Elroy Jetson, and medieval/Celt vibes from names like Royce and Gilroy.Never heard of Fire Emblem; had to google. :)

I like it, it's short, clean and easy to pronounce in different languages. And it doesn't sound rednecky to me.

I'm not at all sure what constitutes a redneck name, as we don't seem to have rednecks here, or not with the US meaning anyway.Roy to me is charmingly old-fashioned Scottish. I'd use it as a mn readily.

It doesn't sound redneck to me. If it's on a redneck-y person, it does seem to fit just fine, but in general it doesn't strike me as a "redneck name." I don't particularly like it, just aesthetically it's not my thing, but it's not a bad name. Would be an OK name for a baby.
