I've known more boys than girls nicknamed Alex.
Alex is my favorite nickname for both Alexander and Alexandra, but I also like Sandy for both, Xander and Lex for Alexander, and Ali, Xan, and Sasha for Alexandra. Anything but Lexi.
Alec and Alexa are favorites of mine, too, but I prefer them as standalones.
