Emily or Lily
My hubby and I are disagreeing on a name. He wants Lily and I want Emmaline. I'm trying to compromise and go with Emily. He isn't totally budged though. So here are the full names and please tell me what you think.Emily Isobella MahriLily Isobella MahriThe last name is Hodges BTW.

I love the name Lily, but I think that Emily sounds better with the middle names you already have. However, I do think that Lily sounds better with your surname.Have you considered Lillian, Liliana, or Emilia?

Emmaline, Emily, and Lily all have good points. If you hadn't already picked out a middle name I was going to suggest Lily Emmaline (a bit of a tongue twister maybe).

Emily Isobella Mahri is my pick.

I vote for Lily. Lily Hodges is adorable.

EmilyLily isn't bad, but Emily is a much stronger name.
Emily Hodges also sounds better than Lily Hodges.Personally, I'd much rather be an Emily than a Lily. Lily is one of the weakest names I know. What do you guys think of Lilian, Liliana, or Lillian? He could call her Lily and you wouldn't have to.

I think Emily is lovely

Lily. Emily is very bland in comparison, and doesn't sound great with Isobella.Could you do Lily Emmaline Mahri?

Emily!I vote for the classic Emily all the way! Though currently much too popular for my tastes, it remains one of those rare, stripped-down three-syllable gems with unassailable substance, partially due to the literary Dickinson and Bronte associations. In my mind, neither Lily or Emmaline approach the loveliness of Emily. Nor do they age so well.

Cheers!-S

Mahri is an old Scottish version of Marie. It's a family name passed down through my mom's side.
I also like Emily :)

Emmaline, Emily, and Lily all go great with your combo. You can't really go wrong. Maybe you could both rank all three, and see if you can reach a compromise that way, or maybe you can convince DH that Lily can be a nn for Emily.

Honestly? They're both pretty worn out by this point. I also think you and the hubs should ditch them both since you can't decide and start over. You both should love Baby's name. Still, if you're committed to one of these, I'd go with Lily. I also agree with another poster about changing Isobella to Isabella. While I love the Scottish Isobel, Isobella just looks strange to me.

Emily is so boring. I prefer Lily.

Ditch them both and try to find something less usual. They are both Bore City at this point, irrespective of whether I like them or not.

I much prefer Lily to Emily, but Emily would work in your situation.

I like both Lily and Emmaline but I really dont like Emily. I think Lily Isobella Mahri is cute :)
I know two people called Lily: Lily Mae and Lily Sassafras, im not sure if I like the Sassafras though...
Anyway good luck :)

Lily!I definitely prefer Lily over Emily or Emmaline. Emily is one of those names that have gotten into fashion a few years ago. The trend seems to be over now but there are SO many Emilys out there. Lily sure is popular, too, but this has always been the case. It's a very classy name with history. I dislike Isobella because it looks misspelled. What about Lily Isabella?
I know, this is a very popular variant, but still pretty.

Isobella and Mahri are both family names so I won't be changing those.
Thank you for responding :)

I prefer Emily. Lily is too cutesy for my taste. I could tolerate it as a nickname, but as a full name I just don't like it. Emily isn't really my taste either, but it's better Lily. I'm with you on this one, Emmaline or (even better) Emmeline is much nicer. Emily Isobella Mahri is a nice combo, though the Isobella spelling looks a bit unnecessarily complicated.

Isobella is a family name so I won't be changing the spelling. But I agree that Emmaline and also Emmeline are great :)
