Wow, dog's names are actually registered in NYC? I'd love to see that list.

I think it's just a list of dogs people have licenses for and have registered. Not everybody licenses their dog.
Maybe some of the Potatoes got that name rather than Spud because their owners thought Spud was too obviously tied to Spuds McKenzie?
