Phryne
My cousin and I were watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (starring Essie Davis). Miss Fisher's first name is Phryne (FRYE-nee).
What do you think about Phryne? I like it, but I wish it didn't mean "toad"!http://www.behindthename.com/name/phryne/submittedDoes the sea exist

I dislike the way it looks and the way it sounds (but the way it looks is worse).

I actually laughed out loud when I read it means toad.
Apart from that, I like the way it sounds, but it doesn't look very attractive. Maybe with some other spelling? I don't know.

I really dislike that. I've never seen or heard of it before, and when I read the subject line I thought it was pronounced like Fern. Like a terrible mangled modern version of Fern!

I wouldn't name a child like a courtesan.

I love the show and love the books, but I don't care for the name. It's so harsh and it's a pain to say.

It's sort of interesting because of the letters in it and the voiced e at the end. I think it sounds kind of ugly and harsh, though. Phryne Fisher makes me think of frying fish.I guess I could get used to it, but I don't think I'd ever really like it.
