Lisa
What do you all think of Lisa? By itself, not short for anything?I know Lisa as a name was pervasive for Gen X-ers (#1 baby girl name for most of the 60s), but I was born in '91 and I only knew one other young Lisa my entire life (she was a friend's younger sister). Maybe knowing (only) one young Lisa helped the name not become so dated or played out in my eyes, because I find Lisa to be quite pretty; there's something appealing, for me, about the capital L in Lisa (I like names that start with L).The association with Lisa Frank artwork might help this name stay lively and colorful in my eyes - I remember those school supplies when I was a kid. I loved the psychedelic leopard the most, I think...Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381

I opened up your post with the intention of saying, "I'm sick of Lisa", because it was insanely popular at the time I was born and for the decade after, but then I saw that you addressed that. When I can separate it from how ubiquitous it was among my age group, I can see the appeal---it's sweet and pretty. Still not something I would ever consider, though. Just too many women named Lisa still walking around.

Seems a bit dated but okay.

I like Lisa but it is dated to me. I also grew up with The Simpsons so that is an additional association but not as strong anymore. There are a lot of names that I like much much more so I'd never come close to considering it but I don't think it would be out of place today- especially as names like Elisa, Alicia, Elise, Alice, and Alyssa are still very much used (all somewhat similar in sound). I think it will definitely be a name that will come back with a vengeance once all the Lisas of the 60s and 70s are dead and gone. The basic sound of the name has never gone out of fashion, just been tweaked a bit with new names. Compare that with names like Sharon and Karen or Brenda or something, where the sounds have not been reworked for the next generations.

I think Lisa is bright and pretty without being fussy. It would be nice to run into a little Lisa.
Actually a couple years ago I remember being in a store and some woman said to her daughter, who looked about three or four "Lisa Maria, will you calm down!" I think Lisa Maria is very pretty.

I was obsessed with Lisa Frank as a child. I think it was during second grade when I had a Lisa Frank backpack, a shirt and a bunch of other merchandise.
I probably known other Lisa's but the only one I can recently call came from a little girl a few years back. She must be around 11 or 12 now.I think Lisa is a very lovely name that could work well on all ages (:

I know two Lisa's personally and they happen to be in their 20s too. They're both important people/role models in my life, yet I still can't warm up to this name. I don't hate it or anything, it's just... there. But if you see it as colorful and bright, that's great! I also enjoy capital L's and Lisa Frank, so I can see where you're coming from.

To be honest I think it's incredibly bland. There's just nothing interesting or exciting about Lisa. There are so many around and while most of them are older there are too many for it to sound fresh and new again for a few more decades. I really liked the similar Liza for a while but that was a long, long time ago. I know a ton of Italian girls named Annalisa and it seems a bit more interesting as does Anneliese. But overall I am not a huge fan of any of these names.
