Kathleen vs. Michelle
Which one would you choose, and why? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Kathleen. I like the Irish feeling that it has, and there are good potential nicknames.I'm not a huge fan of Michelle because it's been so overused, and besides, it's a female version of a male name. Also, I just don't tend to care for French names. They can come across as sort of a failed attempt to be fancy. Maybe it's just that they never sound nearly as good in English.

I like them both, especially for middle names. For first name, I think Michelle, it's a bit smoother to say and no risk of the Kathy/Katie nn.

Kathleen. While they're both dated, Kathleen is less so, and offers the opportunity of nicknames such as Kathy and Kat.

Kathleen, but they're about equally pleasant and equally dated to me, so I don't really care. Kathleen seems more energetic; Michelle seems more calm.

I'd choose Kathleen over Katharine and all its variants; I'd choose Michele over Michelle. And I'd use Michele as a mn to honour two friends with that spelling, one English South African and one French.Come to think of it, Kathleen and Justine are probably the only two-syllable -een/-ine names I like at all.

I like Justine, too.

Michelle. Kathleen is more dated and Michelle more classic and a lovely name

Michelle Kathleen is alright but certainly dated. I can't really imagine it still being used, unlike Michelle. I also prefer the appearance and sound of Michelle more.
