I love it, I do a lot of going through spreadsheets of addresses for work and I've definitely noticed Abilene feels like an exceptionally pretty name for a city. If I asked an Abby what her name was short for I would be thrilled if it was Abilene. 66 girls were named Abilene in 2018!

I don’t mind it at all, it’s a nice alternative to Abigail.

Meh. Sounds a bit too hillbilly for my taste, I prefer Aveline and Adeline.

I love it. I have no rhyme or reason to love it, I just do.

It doesn't feel like a real person's nae, but like a character's name, or nickname. It's so very country-western feeling.
In "The Last Picture Show" by Larry McMurtry, (book and movie) there's a peripheral character called Abilene. It's never said whether that's his first, last or nickname. I'm assuming it's a nn, after the Texas city.
But as a given name rather than a nn, the sound is very feminine.
