Re: Josephine nn Effie
in reply to a message by Amy
Effie could work as a nn for Josephine, but it would take a lot of determination. People tend to take the line of least resistance, and in the case of Josephine that is Jo. As a combo, Josephine Amy Corinne has a better rhythm to my ears.

I know one Josephine. People call her either Josephine or sometimes Jojo. I personally haven't witnessed others calling her Jo. I think because Josephine's so uncommon these days, people are less likely to automatically shorten it or will ask what nickname you prefer. I'm sure some of the older generation will attempt to shorten to Jo (which I hate actually) or Josie without asking, but she will just have to introduce herself as Effie. I don't mind if they prefer to call her by her full name instead though.Keep in mind Corinne would be pronounced cor-RINN. I think without a last name, Corinne at the end sounds better, but Amy on the end would actually flow better with most last names in my mind.
